INJURY

Thumb sprain, also known as Skier’s thumb, is an injury to the ligament on the inside of the thumb that connects the bones together.  This type of injury is caused by the thumb bending backwards and to the side.

SIGN & SYMPTOMS

The individual experiences pain that occurs on the inner side of the thumb, along with tenderness and swelling.  In addition, there is a weakness and it becomes painful to pinch or hold objects.
